The finance department building is the oldest building in the Haifa East station complex. It was established in 1904, and used as the first station building, until the construction of the main station building, in 1907. After that (with the exception of a break during World War II) it was used by the financial and management department of the railway. The building has a high architectural quality and is rich in details and it is a example of typical construction for its time, and repetitive railway typology. The building is located at the front of the complex at Derekh Khativat Golani Street, and is known as an icon associated with the train station in the urban context.

The documentation file for the Finance Building was commissioned in 2022 by Israel Railways. The purpose of the file is to collect information and answer fundamental and practical questions concerning the importance of the finance department building for the benefit of its preservation and development in the present and in the future.
